5 Fun & Simple Summer Crafts for Beginners | Cricut Joy

5 Fun & Simple Cricut Crafts

Here are 5 fun and simple crafts that can be done by both kids and adults alike! These projects are all made using materials you likely have on hand or can easily grab at a low cost. So get ready to get crafting with your loved ones!

Personalized Kid’s Apron

The first thing that I couldn’t wait to create with our Cricut Joy machine was our personalized Kid’s aprons. My little ones really enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with me. So, I decided to get them their own aprons to be my little assistant chefs. I knew that personalizing their aprons would add just a little pizazz and make them feel extra special. And it surely did!

They are both big fans of Super Mario Brothers and selected their favorite characters for Mama to add to their aprons. To create this design, I used the Cricut Joy Machine, Cricut Easy Press Mini, and the Smart Iron On material in Silver and Gold. Personalized Water Bottles

With the summer heat, making sure that my little ones stayed hydrated was a must! To make drinking water fun, I decided to personalize their water bottles and created a summer-long water challenge. Every time one of them completed their entire water bottle, they received points that added up to a grand toy prize. Needless to say, our staying hydrated challenge was a hit!

Customizing each bottle was fairly easy with the Cricut Joy Machine, Smart Permanent Vinyl, and Smart Transfer Tape. This project only took 20 minutes from design to finish! #MomWin

Beautiful Custom Greeting Cards

Sis!!! I am wowed at the beautiful custom greeting cards that we were able to create this summer! This is by far one of my favorite features of the Cricut Joy. With the Cricut Joy Insert Cards, custom cards can be printed within 5 minutes or less, depending on the details and designs.

There is a huge variety of templates available in the mobile Cricut Design Space app, and tons more are added daily! I created Birthday cards for my little one’s birthdays, Get well soon cards for our friends and family impacted by the pandemic, and a Congratulations card to celebrate my husband‘s recent job promotion.

With this feature, our holiday greeting cards are going to be extra special! If you’re a card lover, this personal touch is all the reason to get a Cricut Joy Machine.

Charcuterie Board Decals

With the kids home for summer, we spent a lot of time snacking both indoors and outdoors. The easiest and most fun way to snack is with a Charcuterie board. I figured it would be a fun family project to design and decorate our own snack board.

My daughter and I designed the beautiful butterfly decals for our charcuterie boards. These decals were quick and easy to create using the Cricut Joy Adhesive-backed Deluxe Paper. Using the mobile app, we simply selected a butterfly design, inserted the deluxe paper into the Cricut Joy, and within minutes our decals were ready. The application was so easy that my little girl was able to assist.

Chalkboard Tic Tac Toe

Our final summer craft is our homemade Tic Tac Toe board game. We repurposed one of our wood tablets and turned it into a Tic Tac Toe board using our Cricut Joy, Smart Permanent Vinyl in Black, and Adhesive-backed Deluxe Paper. My little ones absolutely love competing against Mama in a few rounds. This board was perfect for screen-free fun, road trips, and our traditional family game night.

What I found really cool about Cricut and the Cricut Joy was all the ready-to-print or customized templates found in Cricut’s Design Space. I definitely plan to create more fun games for my little ones to enjoy right at home or on our travels.
