What is Osmo Pizza Co.?

Osmo Pizza Co is an interactive, hands-on educational pizza game that incorporates math skills and the concept of money. Kids are able to run their own pizza shop, create pizzas, make profits, and set business goals. It exposes them to pizza making, basic business skills, customer service, and working with money. They will learn math skills such as addition, subtraction, and even basic fractions while playing. It’s perfect for school-age children, ages 5-12. With changeable settings, parents are able to set up the game based on the level of their child’s math skills and competencies.

The magic of Pizza Co is in Osmo’s ability to display users’ actions in real-time digitally. As each personalized pizza is created, the system is able to mirror it. Magically, users watch customers’ reactions to the pizza made and also get to see them eat the pizza created. Based on the settings, users are able to calculate the change owed using the money tiles provided in the game.

Each kit includes the Pizza Co game app, a pizza board, 40 money tiles, 48 toppings, and 1 stackable storage case. An Apple iPad or Amazon Fire Tablet are the only compatible devices to access Osmo. Lastly, an Osmo base is required but is not included in the kit.

What We Loved

My little chefs truly enjoyed playing with Pizza Co. and could easily be whisked away for an hour into their pizza-making world. While playing, they truly felt like chefs! They loved that Osmo brought pizza-making to life. They took turns fulfilling pizza orders and had so much fun putting the toppings on the pizza board. Very quickly, they noticed that with each pizza made, their profits were increasing. They were also able to identify a customer’s satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their pizza. It gave us a moment to talk about customer service and what it should look like in the real world.

In particular, I enjoyed teaching them the concept of money, especially since they don’t really get to see money exchanges often due to mobile ordering or card swiping. I enjoyed watching them count the dollars and coins and decided that I would be incorporating more cash and coin exchanges when we went grocery shopping. Thanks to Osmo Pizza Co., my little chefs are ready to start making their own pizzas at home!
